 The works of Tetiana and Serhiy Kolechko represented in that exhibition are accomplished with the use of an ancient heated enamel technique. The earliest roots of enameled objects are dated from about the 13 th BC. Most extant pieces are from the golden age of the 10 th and 11 th centuries, when Byzantine art enjoyed a revival in jewelry, book covers, crosiers, chalices and crosses. This technique flourished in France, in particular in Limoges. We know about excellent samples made by Georgian enamellers, as well as artist from China and Japan. Enamels of Tetiana and Serhiy Kolechko remind a fusion of gems. It is a fact: the masterly manufactured enamels become top-value gems in the end. In this case fire plays the main part of the transformation. A copper plate is covered by glass-like paints. The plate is baked in oven four to ten times - even forty times! - with fire working as a purifier. This alchemy brings out colors, shows nuances, highlights the transparent layers, and makes color combinations deeper. One should have a special talent. Knowledge and intuition to control these processes, because, if an artist fails to tame fire, the results may be quite ruinous. Tetiana and Serhiy are good artisans and incredible artists. Their road to mastership took them many years of endeavor. Early in the 1980s they graduated from Odesa State Art School. Ever since they went forward with easel painting, graphic arts, showed their works at the Ukrainian and international exhibitions, led enamel workshops. Tetiana and Serhiy Kolechko turn to the best samples of world enamel and, at the same time, go on working out their own style, and peculiar characters of works. They have been working together for many years now. Therefore, their enamels supplement each other embodying the unity of opposites that always exist in true family and real creative work. Because "man and woman are one cause, one flesh, and one spirit!"
